A common mistake that we make while planning our modern home lighting is that we do not pay much attention to it. Most of the time, our belief is that the function of lightings in our home is just to help us see in the dark and forget that lights are also an important tool to enhance and accent our home decor.

Home lightings are not just a way to light up your home but also a way to add style and character to your home. If you want to decorate your house with a theme in your mind, you need also to consider the light fixtures for your home to suits your style.

There are a number of different styles and types of modern home lighting fixtures to choose from. Modern home lighting includes crystal lamps and chandeliers made with coloured crystals. Modern lighting fixtures nowadays use lighting fixtures that are geometrical and stark. Also the modern styles today uses bases finished in the same colour as the crystals used to decorate the piece, unlike before that gold, silver and brass are commonly used.

When using modern home lighting fixtures, just be sure to address each room in your house according to its use. Keep the light fixture simple and made up of clean shapes.

Prevention is better than cure

One of the elders in our church told us her scary experience last sunday. She experienced a mild stroke at the time she’s very much alone in her home. She has a portable BP monitor where she used to ocassionally checked her blood pressure. Her one eye is getting blurred and it’s like almost losing its eyesight.

In times like this it is really beneficial if we have portable machines at home to check our health condition. Aside from a blood pressure monitor i think portable ekg machines is also advisable to have in every home especially those with history of heart problems in the family. Prevention is better than cure. If we can monitor our heart’s condition early we can do the necessary action before it became too late.

Thoughts on retirement investments

Though my age now is still far from my retirement age, sometimes i’m already thinking of what would i do with my retirement pay. If i would invest it in business or in real estate. But when i retire, what i would really like to do is to enjoy my remaining years in life. I’m not sure if i am still physically fit to travel around the world but if ever i would love to.

I remember my friend in US told me that she wants to invest in Ocean isle Beach Real Estate when she retires. I hope i can do the same. I love to own a property near an island or beach. A residential place where i can feel like i’m always on a beach vacation. Isn’t that great?

Finally a UST freshman student

Thank God for the answered prayer! My daughter has passed the interview and finally accepted as freshman student at the University of Santo Tomas. Hayy, our long wait is over..

So tomorrow i’ll be on leave again to pay for school reservation. I thought the next step would be enrollment already but it is not. Which means i’ll be seeing more of UST. But it’s okay since i love to see my alma mater.

Swimming pool maintenance

We went to our friend’s house the other day. My friend was at their swimming pool when we arrived. She was supervising the cleaning of the pool so while i was there she taught me some things about swimming pool maintenance. I’ve learned that they have installed Salt Systems which sanitizes the pool by creating chlorine from common salt that is added to the water. The Salt System has salt cells wherein as the water passes through the salt cell, electrolysis occurs which releases the chlorine from the salt.

Having a background in Chemistry i didn’t find it difficult to understand her explanation. However now that i know how difficult and costly it is to maintain a swimming pool i might drop the idea of having our own swimming pool in the future.

Half-hearted support

Sometimes I feel sad because my husband doesn’t value the things I bought for him. Like the barbell and dumb bell he asked me to buy three years ago. I don’t totally agree with him buying them but because I would like to be a supportive wife to him I just said yes. At first he religiously used them but later on he stopped and just damped those body building tools in one corner of the house. He just wasted the money.

Now he’s asking about testosterone booster. He heard from his friend about a certain body building supplement that boosts testosterone level that aid in building muscles. Oh no, here he is again, thinking of spending money just to gain big muscles. Cool and comfortable room

It’s so hot outside! We can really feel the heat of summer season. I’m lucky that my workplace is fully air-conditioned and I don’t experience this terrible hot weather. However, I feel sad for my kids who are staying in the house right now. My son even complained that he cannot take a rest or nap in the afternoon because their room is located in the second floor and it’s too hot there. At the ground floor we have one room but it serves only as store room. It’s cooler and more comfortable in that room so I’m planning to rearrange the room so they could use it. But I still need to buy a new bed. Good thing, a friend told me where I could find cheap metal daybed frames and mattress. So on our next payday, we’ll visit the store and see if we could find and buy the bed that we need.
