Al and Tipper Gore split up after 40 years of marriage

Al and Tipper Gore have announced that they are separating after being married for just over 40 years. According to an e-mail that they released together, “After a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate. This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together.” Telling friends that they’ve simply grown apart after being together for so long, others have also revealed that there was no earth-shattering moment that broke the couple up – no affairs or cheating or anything of the sort. Rather, the two began to create separate lives for themselves. Al Gore stayed on the road frequently with various projects and according to a friend, “Their lives had gotten more and more separated.”

The Gores were married on May 19, 1970 at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. They exuded love and happiness during Gore’s time as vice president in the 1990s and then during the presidential campaign in 2000. The Gores also have four children, including Karenna, Kristin, Sarah and Albert III.

Al and Tipper Gore have been together since high school and, according to Al, their relationship was the inspiration behind the novel “Love Story.” They shared a kiss in front of the nation at the Democratic National Convention that was so long that it made those watching uncomfortable. But now, the couple, married for 40 years, have decided to split up.

I’s really sad to hear they didn’t survive and last longer. But who knows, it could be a start of a much better relationship between them.

Pat Robertson on Haiti earthquake

On the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “700 Club” today  Rev. Pat Robertson had some interesting thoughts as to why the earthquake struck the impoverished nation, here’s an excerpt:

“And you know, Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it.

“They were under the heel of the French, uh, you know Napoleon the 3rd and whatever, and they got together and swore a pact to the Devil.

“They said, ‘We will serve you if you’ll get us free from the French.’

“True story.

“And so the Devil said, ‘Okay, it’s a deal.’

“And, uh, they kicked the French out, you know, with Haitians revolted and got themselves free.

“But ever since they have been cursed by, by one thing after another, desperately poor.

“That island of Hispaniola is one island. It’s cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti on the other side is the Dominican Republican.

“Dominican Republic is, is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etcetera.

“Haiti is in desperate poverty.

“Same island.

“They need to have and we need to pray for them a great turning to God and out of this tragedy I’m optimistic something good may come. But right now we’re helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable.”

Lets us pray for the people of Haiti, they need God in their lives above all.

Super ferry 9 tragedy

Last Sunday another sea tragedy happened when a passenger ship sank after tilting for several hours in Siocon Bay near the Zamboanga Peninsula, according to news nine people died in this incident.

News report says, the fate of SuperFerry 9 is not entirely a surprise, since it had already encountered several mishaps in the past.

This May, this same ship was stranded off the coast of Camiguin province for more than 12 hours due to engine problems. In February 2007, the ship conked out southwest of Daog Point on Negros Island on the way from Bacolod City to Iligan City in Mindanao, and had to be hauled to shore by another ship. Engine problems were also blamed for the interruption. In April 2006, the vessel was stranded near Masbate, with a cracked engine cylinder head blamed for the engine trouble. After repairs, the replacement cylinder suffered a leak on the same day while crossing Romblon waters.

Our country have experienced a lot of sea tragedies in the past, how come owners of this shipping companies have taken all those tragedies for granted? How many more lives are they going to take just for the sake of money?

Anyway, if you’re a person who travels a lot, i think it’s nice if you have life insurance. It’s for your family’s sake. So if you think you need one,  search for insurance website and request for free insurance quotes now. Many insurance companies now offer free insurance quotes online.

Reasons why republicans are against Cash for clunkers

Cash for clunkers is a big issue in America right now and from what i read in news articles the Republicans  vowed that they wouldn’t allow the bill to be passed in the senate for additional funding. The man who is leading the fight against cash for clunkers additional funding is none other than John McCain.

I haven’t read the Cash for Clankers Bill,  but i stumble an article explaining why republicans opposed this Bill. Here are some reasons listed:

1) Surplus inventory that is forcing the automobile industry to lay off and furlough workers is sold off, resulting in unemployed people involved in the auto industry going back to work.

2) The hike in employment and in car industry cash flow results in more consumer spending, which helps the economy in general.

3) Car owners will find that they are paying less at the gas pump and have more in their wallet as a result.

4) The Detroit car industry gets a shot in the economic arm (even though foreign car manufacturers also make out big).

Based on this I can’t really say what’s the true motive of republicans, is it really for their country’s sake or they just want to discredit Obama administration. Well, whatever it is i hope it will be resolved positively,  US has a big influence in worldwide economy so it’s a worldwide concern as well.

Yemeni Flight 626 crashed down

I read this breaking news from www.scoops2buzz.com , that a Yemeni plane crashed in the Indian Ocean. Yemeni Flight 626 is said to be carrying 150 passengers who are all feared dead after the plane crash. I suddenly thought of my brother who arrived the other day from Dubai, we’re really thankful he arrived home safely. Tragedy strikes anytime, either by planes or cruises we can’t really tell if we’re safe. Anyway, let’s just pray for the victim’s loved ones.

Underwire bra deflects bullet fired at woman

This news was amazing, I can’t imagine how the metal underwire can deflect a bullet. I have an underwired bra and its metal is just a thin strip. I wonder if the 57-year-old woman from Detroit was wearing a unique underwire bra.

Anyway, Detroit police Officer Leon Rahmaan said the old woman apparently looked out her window Tuesday when one of three men fired the shot. He said the slug smashed through her window pane before hitting the bra’s underwire. Luckily the bullet did not penetrate her skin. She sustained injuries but they’re not life threatening.

Police said the suspects may have fired at her when she looked at her window after a burglar alarm at her neighbor which was not at home at the time sounded. The suspects drove away after the shooting.
