Prevention is better than cure

One of the elders in our church told us her scary experience last sunday. She experienced a mild stroke at the time she’s very much alone in her home. She has a portable BP monitor where she used to ocassionally checked her blood pressure. Her one eye is getting blurred and it’s like almost losing its eyesight.

In times like this it is really beneficial if we have portable machines at home to check our health condition. Aside from a blood pressure monitor i think portable ekg machines is also advisable to have in every home especially those with history of heart problems in the family. Prevention is better than cure. If we can monitor our heart’s condition early we can do the necessary action before it became too late.

Thoughts on retirement investments

Though my age now is still far from my retirement age, sometimes i’m already thinking of what would i do with my retirement pay. If i would invest it in business or in real estate. But when i retire, what i would really like to do is to enjoy my remaining years in life. I’m not sure if i am still physically fit to travel around the world but if ever i would love to.

I remember my friend in US told me that she wants to invest in Ocean isle Beach Real Estate when she retires. I hope i can do the same. I love to own a property near an island or beach. A residential place where i can feel like i’m always on a beach vacation. Isn’t that great?

Half-hearted support

Sometimes I feel sad because my husband doesn’t value the things I bought for him. Like the barbell and dumb bell he asked me to buy three years ago. I don’t totally agree with him buying them but because I would like to be a supportive wife to him I just said yes. At first he religiously used them but later on he stopped and just damped those body building tools in one corner of the house. He just wasted the money.

Now he’s asking about testosterone booster. He heard from his friend about a certain body building supplement that boosts testosterone level that aid in building muscles. Oh no, here he is again, thinking of spending money just to gain big muscles. I canot fully support him this time because of financial concerns.

Cool and comfortable room

It’s so hot outside! We can really feel the heat of summer season. I’m lucky that my workplace is fully air-conditioned and I don’t experience this terrible hot weather. However, I feel sad for my kids who are staying in the house right now. My son even complained that he cannot take a rest or nap in the afternoon because their room is located in the second floor and it’s too hot there. At the ground floor we have one room but it serves only as store room. It’s cooler and more comfortable in that room so I’m planning to rearrange the room so they could use it. But I still need to buy a new bed. Good thing, a friend told me where I could find cheap metal daybed frames and mattress. So on our next payday, we’ll visit the store and see if we could find and buy the bed that we need.

Plastic models

My cousin’s husband loves collecting plastic models. She said he adored building them and makes him happy and feel motivated. Building a model kit is a challenging activity to do, that gives a great feeling of satisfaction and excitement to a person once he accomplished it. And because of that, a person can become more inspired.

He is a television script writer and children’s book writer. Maybe his obsession has something to do with his type of job. Also I think building model cars, airplanes, ships, robots, etc. is his way to release tension and fatigue from writing.

For a writer, to be able to come up with a good story or script, he/she must be well motivated or inspired. And I think that explains why my cousin’s husband loves plastic models a lot.

A Channel of Blessing

This morning a friend called and asked if I would like to join her in her new found business and investment. It only requires small capital.

I admire my friend for her courage and wisdom in entering into any kind of business. She has invested in stock market, in gold and military coins, in putting up franchise business, etc. Some succeeded, some have failed but inspite of some failures still she remained positive and hopeful. Her determined character really pays because she has gone a long way. She already owned several properties and big savings.

I wish I can do the same. But I want to be successful not just for myself or for my family. I really would like to be a channel of blessing for others. To share the love and blessings God has poured out on me.

The word of God for me this morning inspires me more:

“When you spend your time loving me and others, you’re doing something that will last forever. When you love, you’re planting a tree in the soil of Heaven. That tree will bear fruit for all eternity.”

Serving God thru Music

Have you seen these daisy rock acoustic guitars? They are so cute aren’t they? I’m sure my daughter will love them when she discovers these daisy rock acoustic guitars. She knew that we’re already fully paid on her Keyboard and if she see these cute guitars she will beg me again to buy her another music instrument. Well, it budget permits i might consider it.

My daughter is included in our Church’s music team. She plays the keyboard for our Youth and Sunday services. I’m so proud of her and very happy that she is using her talent to serve God in the music ministry. Because of that me and my husband really give our full support to her.

CD/DVD Duplication

Last week an official in our government was caught buying pirated CD/DVD. Because of that he was once again in the limelight. He already became controversial because of the heavy firearms discovered in his service vehicle last year.

This morning i heard in the news that the said government official will not be axed from his post despite the protests against him. Well, if the government will tolerate such actions how can they pursue their drive against piracy.

Fast cd duplication is so prevalent nowadays because of our advanced technology. Duplicating CD/DVD’s is just so easy, if the top government officials will not take this matter seriously there’s no way they can solve this problem in piracy.

On my friend’s 40th birthday

My friend is turning 40 years old next month. She told me sh’es excited because of the old saying that life begins at 40, and at the same time quite sad because she feel that she already reached the age of 40 and yet she hasn’t accomplished that much in her life. It was her dream that when she reached the age of 40, she already have a house, a car, and had traveled in her dream places. But those are just little frustrations for her because they are just materials things, she’s actually happy because she has a loving husband and great kids and they have stable jobs which in due time will make them achieve their dreams and desires.

Anyway, i’m looking for 40th birthday gifts online, i want to find something unique to make her happy. I know the internet has a lot of diverse ideas for unique gifts. I want to give her a very special gift since she’s my childhood friend and she’s really very dear to me.

Transformation

I was talking to my officemate last time, he is a member of a certain religion in our country. He said they are having a hard time ministering to new members especially to men because when they ask them to follow the set of rules their church are implementing, men would usually follow at first but later on they will just stop attending because they cannot conform to the church rulings and systems.

I told him why it is difficult for a person to change or to stay in their religion. Because it is only the intention of religion that people be conformed to their system.

On the other hand, it is the intention of God that we are transformed from within. Transformation comes only if we have a true relationship with God. Transformation starts by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Savior.
